The Wegmann Law Firm was originated by a partnership of
M.C. Matthes and
Will B. Dearing in 1947.
M.C. Matthes was a State Senator from this area for many years and left the law firm to become a Judge on the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District in St. Louis and later on the Eighth Circuit United States Court of Appeals.
Will B. Dearing was an accomplished trial lawyer in St. Louis with the law firm of Moser, Marsalek and Dearing prior to his entry into the practice in Hillsboro. Other lawyers who became partners at various times in the firm as it progressed to its present status were:
Samuel Richeson, a colorful and able lawyer originating from a legal family in Potosi, Missouri;
H.L.C. Weier, from Reynolds County and later Festus, served with the firm until he became an Appellate Judge on the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District in St. Louis in 1969;
J. Richard Roberts from the Roberts legal family of Farmington, Missouri, was a Lon Hocker, outstanding trial lawyer awardee at the time he joined the firm, and was noted for his trial abilities.
R.A. Wegmann, an authority on insurance law joined the firm in 1965 and is its present senior member;
Nicholas G. Gasaway, a Merchant Marine Academy Graduate, joined the firm in 1969 and, until his retirement in 2005, concentrated on trial, appellate, real estate, personal injury and probate law, and he continues to serve as Municipal Judge of St. Clair, Missouri;
Jack C. Stewart, Major, Army JAGC, joined the firm in 1970 and works primarily in municipal, personal injury, estate planning, probate and real estate law;
John A. Schneider of the Hillsboro publishing family ably served as a distinguished trial lawyer with the firm from 1971 until his death in 1992.
A.W. Dieffenbach, working in the areas of personal injury, dissolution of marriage and business law served the firm from 1991 until his retirement in 2008;
Dennis H. Tesreau, of the Herculaneum family of that name, joined the firm in 1976 and specializes in workers' compensation, personal injury, medical and municipal law;
Randall D. Sherman, specializes in personal injury trial work, business organization and estate planning has served the firm since 1987.
Bianca L. Eden specializes in estate planning, estate administration, business organizations,real estate law and municipal law and has served the firm since 2000.
Jessica A. Mikalespecializes in insurance defense, family law, municipal law and trademarks and has served the firm since 2003.

Jason L. Cordes.
Members of the firm maintain a substantial presence in community activities in Jefferson and surrounding counties.
